Aftercare After a BDSM Scene Or Kink Play

Aftercare in BDSM or kink is very important. Not everyone practices aftercare, but most of us do need it after a scene. A good BDSM or Kink session can drudge up a lot of endorphins, feelings, and emotions and it is important to be grounded after such sessions. If you don't do aftercare after a scene, you can feel used, depressed, and sometimes feel a drop that brings you down. Aftercare with yourself and your partner can help you enjoy the session more by being more grounded after it is well over.

What is Aftercare

Aftercare is very different for everyone. So it is very important to overthink the subject too much. Some forms of aftercare can be simple things such as talking with your dom or sub after the session while either eating your favorite foods or watching a movie. We did some research and here are some ways others say they do aftercare after a BDSM or kink session.

Taking care of each other's physical needs. Make sure bruises, cuts, and other physical traits are taken care of. Bandages, and rubbing a soothing ointment on areas that impact play may have been performed. This is also a good time to replenish fluids and nourishment. Have a snack, and drink some water, tea, or sports drinks to replenish electrolytes.

Now comfort and physical contact will depend on the relationship you have with your partner. Some couples will make love after a BDSM or Kink session, or simply cuddle and hold each other. Again this all depends on the relationship you have with your partner. There is no right or wrong way to perform aftercare since it is based on each individual's needs. You also might want to create a bathing routine.

I know I am kind of throwing a few different ideas on aftercare, but it is something that can be a lot of various things to help bring you back from a sudden drop in emotions from a scene. It can be a good idea to have some of these items on hand just in case they are needed.  Aftercare may not be needed for every scene, but many of the items used for it are already on hand in your home.  Have a stash or an aftercare/drop bag ready just for times when it is needed.

We will be doing more posts on aftercare in the future and would like to hear from you on how you perform aftercare.  Contact us via our website or through one of our social media accounts and let’s start a discussion on aftercare that could help someone who may be reading this.
